With the experience that he has accumulated in about 20 years of practice, especially in the real estate area, Duarte de Lima Mayer seeks to provide a rigorous technical monitoring, aiming at the preparation of the best legal solutions in terms of cost, quality and risk.
Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French, Duarte de Lima Mayer has accompanied not only National Customers, individual and businessmen, but International Customers who choose to invest in Portugal, either to conduct their business, or to reside in Portugal and establish their lives here. Assuming an energetic defense of the interests of its Clients and always in close articulation with them, he is also keen on contribution in the negotiation phases, as well as endeavouring to implement solutions on the ground, in a "hands-on" approach.
Most of his work has been directed to one’s relationship with the Public Administration, the legal monitoring of building permit applications and urban projects in Municipalities and increased his professional scope to the management of real estate legalisation processes in the banking sector, dealing with all the technical and legal complexities that are inherent to Public Law and several Private Law matters, and directing his action to all sorts of facilities, ranging from housing, commercial and industrial estates. In this regard, he has monitored about 100 legalisation processes across Portugal so far.
He has provided legal assistance in land tenure workouts/restructuring (allotments, condominiums/sectional titles, area settlements) with their respective adjustments in land registry offices.
Duarte de Lima Mayer is also involved in a number of operations that are deeply related to the urban rehabilitation trend experienced in the city of Lisbon over the last few years, by assisting real estate developers in licensing processes, identifying forms of legal support, procedures and strategies for their operations, thus acting as a reliable partner with them so success can be attained.
He is also keen and willing to develop his work with the tourism industry, the way it overlaps with the real estate sector, and how it has been a driving force in the national economy and the construction/urban rehabilitation sector.
He has conducted many courses in the field of Construction Law, as a result of his continued experience in this very relevant branch of the legal profession.
Duarte de Lima Mayer is a graduate in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and holds a specialist degree in Urban, Land Use and Environmental Law from Coimbra University, and has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2003. He has also been awarded a degree in Social Sciences from University of Paris XII.
